POSITION SUMMARY:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of the Licensed Registered Nurse. The LVN contributes their service to the physical and emotional care and education of the patient and family in accordance with the philosophy and standards of the clinic health centers.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Six months experience in an acute care setting or one year experience in a non-acute care setting.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Current licensure with the California Board of Vocational Nursing
Current CPR certification
Current IV/Blood withdrawal Certification for State of California (obtained within 18 months of hire)
Current ACLS (within 18 months of hire) (Current employees have until December 31st, 2023 to obtain)
Current PALS (within 18 months of hire) (Current employees have until December 31st, 2023 to obtain)
Enloe Basic Arrhythmia recognition course (within 18 months of hire) (dept tracks)

How you make a difference The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides assistance and collects data in the delivery of patient care in a correctional setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. As part of this role, the LVN directs and guides patient teaching and activities in accordance with their education, demonstrated competencies, and the Nursing Practice Act (NPA). The LVN works closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care and compliance with established policies and procedures.
