EvergreenHealth is seeking new RN graduates to join the well-established teams in our 3 MedSurg units: MedSurg, Medical Oncology, and Ortho, Spine & Neuro. This residency cohort will begin from October 26, 2026. 


RN RESIDENCY PROGRAM DETAILS: EvergreenHealth's Residency Program consists of group practicums and lectures that support the graduate RN to mitigate the education-to-industry gap. We foster growth in the clinical, professional, and transitional aspects of professional nursing practice. The Residency program incorporates collaborative team support by managers, preceptors and clinical nurse educators.  

RN Residents require a Washington State RN license and an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS card by your hire date.

Primary Duties:  

  1. Provides direct patient care and functions as a patient advocate.
  2. Assesses the comprehensive nursing needs of an assigned group of patients.
  3. Coordinates the patient and family/significant other education process.
  4. Continuously plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, incorporating patient and family/significant other into the process.
  5. Participates with physician partners and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient and family/significant other plan of care.
  6. Communicates effectively all relevant information (e.g., patient information, safety issues, problems with equipment, quality issues, etc.) to immediate supervisor, in timely way.
  7. Communicates and documents changes in patient condition, on a timely basis, to charge nurse/supervisor and physician.
  8. Accountable for following the guidelines for attendance, punctuality and overall dependability. Accountable for effective performance and follow-through of all assigned responsibilities and for completing responsibilities within designated (or agreed upon) timeframes. Completes responsibilities in a manner consistent with organizational policy, goals and values.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:  

REQUIRED for the position:  

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington by residency program start date.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification by residency program start date.

DESIRED for the position:  

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) 
  • Senior Practicum in Oncology, MedSurg, or Ortho, Spine & Neuro

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The registered nurse plans, organizes and directs hospice care and is experienced in nursing, with emphasis on community health education/experience. The professional nurse builds from the resources of the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individual and families within their homes and communities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care 1. Completes an initial, comprehensive and ongoing comprehensive assessment of patient and family to determine hospice needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es). 2. Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of nursing process. 3. Assesses and evaluates patient’s status by: A. Writing and initiating plan of care B. Regularly re-evaluating patient and family/caregiver needs C. Participating in revising the plan of care as necessary 4. Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions as patient status and needs change. 5. Uses health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis. 6. Develops a care plan that establishes goals, based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates palliative nursing actions. Includes the patient and the family in the planning process. 7. Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the physician’s plan of care. 8. Counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs. 9. Provides health care instructions to the patient as appropriate per assessment and plan. 10. Assists the patient with the activities of daily living and facilitates the patient’s efforts toward self-sufficiency and optional comfort care. Communication 1.
