Riverstreet Manor is currently looking for a full time Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development to assist with leading our nursing team! Are you a compassionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (RN) with leadership experience in long-term care? Then this might be the perfect opportunity for YOU!
Requirements of the Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development:
- Must possess, as a minimum, an Associates Degree, or BS preferred and completed nursing school
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state.
- Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
- Must have experience in supervising, managerial and principles, practice of teaching, etc.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/transmission-based precautions
- APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred, but not necessary.
- Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development:
- Communicate with department directors to determine departmental training needs
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to our infection prevention and control and employee health programs.
- Provide leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.
- Report all reportable diseases to the county and state health departments
- Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff.
- Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs in relation to prevention and control of infections.
- Participate in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes for CNAs/GNAs and any other nursing personnel that provide instructions on “how to do the job,” and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
- Assist in training department personnel in identifying tasks that involve potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
