Position Details

  • Full-time
  • Monday-Friday
  • 8am – 5pm

Position will provide care for patients across the life span. Performs health assessments, follow-up exams for acute & chronic disease management, order & interpret diagnostic tests, medication management.

Our ideal candidate will be an FNP with primary care experience treating all ages. New grads with a passion for learning & growing will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Performs history and physical examinations, including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical history, drug allergies, surgeries and hospitalizations

Works under the medical direction and supervision of a licensed physician to provide medical services at Centra facilities

Provides clinical support to nursing staff for care of complex patients at Centra facilities/affiliated joint venture facilities

Demonstrates the knowledge/skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age and development needs, psychological status, psychosocial and spiritual needs of clients served

Screens hospitalized patient charts referred for noninvasive testing to determine most appropriate test

Coordinates and implements discharge plans that include follow-up care, diet, equipment and medication

Completes progress notes, admission and discharge summaries, collaborates with patients' physicians to provide holistic care

Expert practitioner in the area of specialization, maintaining a current/relevant knowledge base

Serve and care for our patients, customers, and each other. Show commitment to patients and customers, fellow employees, appearance, etiquette, and privacy. Respond to customers in a positive manner

Displays and promotes a positive public relations approach to staff, physicians, patients, families and the public

Carry workload independently. Willing to serve on committees. Share knowledge with team members

Makes weekend rounds if required on a rotating basis per Medical Director

Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with physicians and staff in other departments

Qualifications

Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program, and Masters of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN)

Required Experience: Minimum of five (5+) years of progressive experience in area of specialization

Required Certifications and Licensures: Current licensure by the Virginia State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority. Maintains BLS and ACLS Certifications. Hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse. Nationally recognized certification in field of specialization
