What you will be doing?

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Britelife Recovery plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Nursing and overseeing the nursing department's operations. The ADON ensures that clients receive high-quality, compassionate care tailored to their needs, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment. The ADON will aid in supervising nursing staff, contribute to clinical/nursing practices and ensure compliance with regulations. The ADON will be involved with the development of the day-to-day schedule, coordinating availability, and overseeing competency assessments. This position may also provide collateral information to assist the Director of Nursing when completing performance evaluations. 

 

What tasks are required?

  • Full Time - 40 hours; Must have touch points with overnight shifts and weekends 2x weekly in both Bluffton, SC and Hilton Head Island, SC.

  • Supervise and coordinate the nursing staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of client records.

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of care provided to clients, and addressing client concerns.

  • Ensure necessary information is captured as it relates to client care and medications.

  • Respond to client crises and coordinate interventions with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Assist in interviewing, training, and mentoring nursing staff, ensuring they are equipped with knowledge about substance use and addiction treatment.

  • Assist in performance evaluations with collateral information and provide constructive feedback to nursing staff.

  • Facilitate continuing education and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.

  • Ensure the nursing department adheres to state and federal regulations, including those specific to substance use treatment and mental health care.

  • Assist in maintaining accreditation standards and implementing quality improvement initiatives.

  • Document patient care accurately and maintain proper health records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team (including medical, therapists, and other departments).

  • Participate in case reviews, treatment planning meetings, and other clinical discussions.

  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff and administration, ensuring smooth communication and coordination of care.

  • Special projects and on-call procedures as assigned.

  • Advocate for the needs of patients, providing a safe and supportive environment for recovery.

  • Address patient concerns regarding care, working toward resolution in a timely and professional manner.

  • Help promote client engagement in treatment when appropriate, offering guidance and education about medications, addiction and recovery.

 

What we need from you?

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current and valid license in the state of practice.

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with adequate experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in nursing, preferably in addiction treatment or behavioral health.

  • Experience working in a substance use treatment setting is strongly preferred.

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.

  • In-depth understanding of substance use disorders, evidence-based treatment approaches, and recovery principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse nursing team.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in healthcare and addiction treatment settings.

  • Certification in addiction nursing or related field is a plus (e.g., CARN – Certified Addiction Registered Nurse) preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally.

  • Ability to manage stressful situations with calm and professionalism.

  • The ADON will work in a fast-paced treatment facility with patients who may have a history of substance abuse, mental health issues, and medical conditions.

  • The role may require evening, weekend, or on-call hours to ensure continuous care.

Location: Low Country Cancer Care Pay Range: $24.83 - $46.12 Job Description Summary: Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members. Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support. Documentation: Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities. Will follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters. Teaching: Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner. Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent.
