As a Director of Infection Prevention & Caregiver Health, you’ll play a critical leadership role in protecting the well-being of caregivers, patients, and visitors across multiple facilities. This is a unique opportunity to lead at both a strategic and operational level—driving programs that prevent illness and injury, ensure regulatory excellence, and foster a culture of safety across the organization.
Why This Role Matters
This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and accrediting bodies while promoting health and safety to prevent illness, injury, and disease transmission among patients, caregivers, and visitors. The Director develops and implements both long- term and short-term operational strategies to achieve strategic priorities for the system, and drives quality, service, and regulatory compliance. This position collaborates with system leadership, community executive teams, and interdisciplinary departments to achieve excellence in infection prevention and caregiver health outcomes. Represents both functions in incident command structures and ensures continuous readiness for regulatory surveys.

Key Responsibilities
- Executes the strategic direction for infection prevention and caregiver health programs in assigned region, including oversight of committees, annual plans, and compliance initiatives.
- Manages staffing, scheduling, and performance development for assigned teams. Clearly delineates responsibilities and decision‑making authority among community managers and caregiver safety faciliators to ensure efficient operations, clear escalation pathways, and regulatory compliance.
- Supports system standardization, stewardship, and continuous quality improvement in infection prevention and caregiver safety programs.
- Partners with system leadership and community executives to lead initiatives that improve caregiver and patient safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to occupational health and infection prevention standards.
- Oversees infection prevention program, caregiver vaccination programs, respiratory protection compliance, OSHA/BLS recordkeeping, ergonomic, and safe patient handling initiatives.
- Directs response to emerging infectious diseases and exposure investigations.
- Takes responsibility for developing, monitoring, and maintaining the program budget while evaluating performance outcomes, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines and sustained operational effectiveness.
- Collaborates with Quality, Patient Safety, Regulatory, Clinical Risk, and Human Resources to align safety initiatives and caregiver support programs.
- Provides oversight for compliance with federal and state OSHA requirements and occupational health guidelines while ensuring regulatory readiness for OSHA, CDC, CMS, and accreditation reviews.
- Participates in on call rotation as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, or related field (plus equivalent experience)
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health (MPH), or related field (plus equivalent experience) - or willingness to obtain within 3 years
- 7+ years in healthcare or related field (e.g., public health)
- 5+ years in leadership
- One of the following (or ability to obtain within 1 year):
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC)
- Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
- Collaborative, people-centered leadership style
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention, regulatory, and occupational health standards
- Proficiency with clinical systems and Microsoft Office
