As a Resource/Float Pool RN, you will bring clinical excellence and adaptability to various units across the hospital. You will apply advanced nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, guided by The Christ Hospital’s patient- and family-centered care model.
Care delivery is age-specific, culturally responsive, and grounded in the ANA Code of Ethics and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Care Delivery
- Assess patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs using evidence-based practices
- Recognize and escalate changes in condition and critical data to providers and charge nurses
- Ensure safe, high-quality care through proactive risk identification and safety initiatives
- Perform and maintain competency in point-of-care (POC) testing
Care Planning & Coordination
- Develop, prioritize, and continuously update individualized plans of care
- Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to establish measurable goals
- Initiate discharge planning at admission and coordinate appropriate referrals
- Actively participate in shift reports, care conferences, and interdisciplinary rounds
Communication & Collaboration
- Utilize structured handoff communication tools to ensure continuity of care
- Provide ongoing patient and family education, tailored to individual needs
- Foster strong collaboration across departments to deliver seamless care transitions
Evaluation & Documentation
- Continuously evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly
- Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure documentation reflects patient goals, interventions, education, and outcomes
- Maintain continuity of care through effective rounding, handoffs, and transfers
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of hire
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required
- Background in one or more of the following preferred:
- Medical-Surgical
- Telemetry
- Critical Care
- Oncology
- Progressive Care
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- BLS certification required prior to patient contact
- ACLS required within 6 months (for step-down/ICU assignments)
- Specialty certification expected within 5 years of eligibility
