Medical Assistant - Family Medicine - Solana Beach

Scripps Coastal Medical Center makes it easy and convenient for our community to receive exceptional health care in San Diego. Our primary care physicians and their teams provide annual exams, preventive health screenings, wellness information and diagnostic services for you and your family.

With offices throughout San Diego County, our doctors specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. Some locations also provide rheumatology and orthopedics care. When further specialty care is needed, you have access to an extensive network of medical experts throughout the region. Scripps also provides health education resources, including weight management programs, nutrition and fitness classes, and programs for chronic conditions, such as diabetes.

This is a benefited, full-time position located at Scripps Coastal Solana Beach. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no evenings or weekends required.

Your Job Duties

  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification

  • One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred
  • Family medicine experience
