Join UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as a Full-Time PACU Registered Nurse, caring for pediatric patients in a fast-paced, collaborative recovery environment
- Recover 50–70 patients daily from the OR, Procedure Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology with a 1–2 patient assignment for focused, high-quality care
- Work side-by-side with anesthesiologists and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate post-anesthesia care
- Enjoy a varied schedule with primarily daylight shifts ((4) 9-hour shifts between 7:30 AM–6:30 PM), plus limited evening, call, and weekend rotations

- Education & Experience Requirements:
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 4 years of RN experience required for Expert level
- Master’s degree (MSN or DNP) may substitute for certification requirement (if applicable)
- Professional Development & Certification:
- Annual completion of a professional contribution aligned with department, hospital, or system goals (approved by Unit Director)
- UPMC-approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer and must be maintained
- Certification requirement waived if holding an MSN or DNP
- Must maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluation
- Clinical Competencies:
- Demonstrates advanced clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Applies and leads others in the nursing process
- Ability to assess and provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan, incorporating growth and development principles
- Interprets patient data to determine individualized care needs in alignment with department standards

- Physical & Functional Requirements:
- Demonstrates mobility, manual dexterity, and visual acuity
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and reposition patients regularly
- Licensure, Certifications & Clearances:
- Current RN license (PA or compact state license)
- Must obtain PA licensure within 60 days of residency change if working under compact license
- BLS/CPR (AHA) required within 30 days of hire (includes skills demonstration)
- Act 31, 33, 34, 73 clearances
