The Position:

We're looking for a passionate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to help diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team with multiple providers, specialists, and other clinical and administrative staff.

  • Participate with the team to focus on health promotion and disease prevention, management, and mitigation.
  • Participate in patient visits with the goal of disease management, mitigation, and prevention, identification of chronic conditions, and coordinating with patient primary care and specialty providers as necessary and appropriate.
  • May order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests, complete and prescribe medication for patients in accordance with licensure and scope of practice. 
  • Work will entail telehealth and in-home patient visits.


Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current National Certification in Family, Adult, Gerontological, or Primary Care Practice
  • Current State of Hawaii Advanced Practice Registered Nurse-RX (APRN-RX) Licensure
  • Current State of Hawaii Controlled Substance License
  • Current DEA Registration
  • Current Basic Life Support Certificate
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as an APRN

This provider will join a team of both physicians and APPs on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that provides 24/7 care to critically ill medical patients at the Rush main campus. This opportunity will require an anticipated 12-14 shifts per month. APPs will work autonomously and in collaboration with Rush pulmonary/critical care attending physicians and fellows and will be required to perform a number of procedures including central line placements, paracentesis and temporary hemodialysis catheter placements, among other duties. Department/division specs There are more than 400 APPs employed across the Rush system. The AICU team is fully staffed with 9 APPs. We work closely with many departments (palliative care, hepatology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, etc.) as part of a multidisciplinary approach in the ICU. Duties & Responsibilities We require 12-14 shifts per month on a rotating basis. Some holidays and weekends will be required. The AICU is a 28-bed unit that is staffed by both medical and surgical ICU teams. This position is 100% inpatient. Preferred Qualifications Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in the ICU is strongly preferred. Relevant RN experience may be considered.
