The CVSU (Cardiovascular Surgical Unit) specializes in providing concentrated care and management for patients with severe cardiac, vascular, and thoracic disorders. We focus on invasive hemodynamic monitoring, cardiovascular surgery implementation of mechanical support. CVSU provides post anesthesia care to cardiovascular patients who have received general anesthesia. The CVSU serves critically ill patients 18 years or older. Patients admitted to this unit may be receiving treatment for a variety of cardiac related but not limited to Cardiogenic Shock Aortic Dissection Mechanical Circulatory Support ECMO, VA,VV, VAV, RVAD and LVAD Cardiac Tamponade Post Open Heart Surgery CVSU is available to provide 24/7 care The CVSU is a diverse group of professional staff who have received advanced education and competency in the domain of cardiothoracic services. All new admissions to CVSU are assigned to ONE RN so that each nurse can devote attention to the care of the patient until critical elements are achieved. Staffing patterns are adjusted based on the changing acuity and nursing requirements for the patient.
