Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries.
Job Overview
Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for full-time Certified Medical Assistant in our Outpatient Clinic. The Medical Assistant (MA) will support and facilitate clinic operations by performing clinical, clerical, and technical duties, including patient rooming, documentation during visits, assisting with minor procedures, managing supplies, supporting Telehealth services when applicable, and flexing to administrative support when needed. This role requires strong communication skills, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure an optimal care experience for patients and families.
Responsibilities
- The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record.
- The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN.
- Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies
- Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Medical Assistant Certification from a nationally recognized association (NHA, AMA, NCRMA, NAHP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:
- Associate degree - Medical Assistant
- RMA, CCMA, NCMA
- Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
- Two years' pediatric care experience
- EMR system experience
- Outpatient Clinic, Orthopaedic and cast background
- Bilingual English/Spanish
