Position Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency care setting. The RN provides assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, patient education, and care coordination while collaborating with providers and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.

The RN functions within the Nursing Professional Practice Model and supports excellence in patient care through leadership, teamwork, and evidence-based practice.

What You'll Do

Emergency Patient Care

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
• Deliver direct nursing care to patients presenting with a wide variety of medical emergencies and injuries
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changing clinical situations
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS personnel, and ancillary departments to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Patient & Family Support

• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Provide compassionate support during stressful and often emotional situations
• Serve as a patient advocate while maintaining exceptional standards of care

Leadership & Teamwork

• Delegate patient care responsibilities appropriately based on patient needs and staff competencies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
• Support orientation, mentoring, and development of fellow team members
• Contribute to a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
• Current Idaho Registered Nurse (RN) License required
• Minimum one year of RN experience preferred
• Previous Emergency Department experience highly preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and NRP certifications preferred and required within one year of hire
• Experience with electronic medical record systems preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
