DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accurately room patients; take an adequate patient history; obtain accurate vital signs, collecting urine and blood specimen, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples, and accurately enter all information into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely manner. Accurately and timely assists physician or provider during medical exam and procedure and prepare test and prescription requisitions according to physician orders as requested. Proficient in clerical responsibilities including: sending/receiving/retaining patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately; obtain pre-authorization and healthy connection referrals. Accurately check schedules and organize patient flow; perform screenings per provider guidelines; relaying instructions to patients; answering calls and providing pertinent information and documenting conversations. Performs facility responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment, cleaning/sterilizing equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control, rooms stocked with medical supplies and keep inventory according to departments acceptable par level. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity and serves as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Consults other departments as appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Maintains Point of Care documents and performs Quality Control management. Orients and mentors new staff members. Shows good customer service on phone and in person to anyone that enters the facility. Performs miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations or other duties as deemed necessary. For sleep apnea, review and educate patient on results of home and in-lab diagnostic and titration studies. 3. Order or recommend appropriate therapy/equipment. Make appropriate referrals. 4. Evaluate data on PAP download and make adjustments to therapy as needed and evaluate response to intervention 5. Prescribe and evaluate response to medications relating to night sleep and daytime alertness. 6. Document all aspects of care provided. 7. Supervise and delegate tasks to staff members as indicated 8. Precept midlevel students as requested. 9. Maintain accurate count of all controlled substances within the office. 10. Manage the patient’s care in a timely manner and maintain a level of productivity that is equivalent to the other providers on staff. Education/Certification: Maintain current Idaho licensure, Federal DEA and IBOP certifications. Complete adequate CME as required by licensure. Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Experience : At least two years of experience working independently in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency care setting evaluating and treating a broad range of patients, in terms of age (infants to elderly), medically compliant (infectious disease, cardiac, orthopedic, etc.) and acuity level (routine, urgent and emergent). Equipment/Technology: Routine physical assessment tools Language/Communication: Communicate well with staff, patients, family members, and consultants. Second language fluency is an asset. Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills necessary to calculate medication dosages, etc. Mental Capabilities: High level of diagnostic thinking, often rapid. Must be able to perform multi-tasking with frequent interruptions. Must be capable of on-the-spot problem-solving. Strong knowledge of up-to-date clinical information. Must be flexible. Interpersonal: Ability to inspire staff to tackle challenging work. Ability to recognize, understand and address the needs of patients and family members on multiple levels.
