JOB DESCRIPTION:

Works under the direction of Physician and/or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in outpatient practice.  Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients in the clinic. Provides coordination of care for patients. Possesses the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements concerning his or her age-specific needs. Advocates for patient centered care. Provides the care needed in accordance with the department policies and procedures. Participates in patient and family teaching. Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the outpatient clinical setting. Demonstrates the values contained in the Olympic Medical Center mission and philosophy statements. Supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing. 

EDUCATION

       RN required. BSN or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one year experience in an ambulatory medical clinic preferred. Experience working with specific clinic patients is preferred, e. g, oncology experience for oncology clinic, urology experience for urology clinic, OB-GYN experience for women’s clinic.

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

       Current Washington State Registered Nurse licensure and CPR certification.

Job Description Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Nurse Navigator and Peds Ortho serves in a resource role and delivers direct patient care to Pediatric PM&R and Peds Ortho population. This clinician is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of related conditions and diagnoses, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education for PM & R and ortho in the pediatric population. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Orthopaedic Society/Standards of Orthopaedic Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit/clinic and the organization. The nurse is responsible for bringing together the multidisciplinary efforts of the Attendings, Advanced Health Practitioners, Clinic Staff, Residents, Fellows, IP Nursing Staff, PT/OT, Case Management, Pharmacy, Practice Coordinators, Analysts, and all other ancillary and support departments to ensure a high quality, coordinated, and satisfying experience for the patient. The Nurse Navigator will be involved with the department and Health System quality metrics.
