POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Medical Assistant (LMA) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of the medical assistant team while providing high-quality, compassionate patient care in a clinical setting. This role combines clinical and administrative duties, with a focus on ensuring efficient operations, maintaining compliance with healthcare standards, and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment. The Lead MA will also assist in training, mentoring, and evaluating new and current medical assistants and will play a key role in maintaining patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Direct Patient Interaction: Assist in patient examinations, record medical histories, and measure vital signs.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with information regarding their treatments, procedures, and aftercare instructions.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and ensure the highest standards of patient care arid service are maintained.
- Oversee Medical Assistants: Manage the daily activities of medical assistants, ensuring that they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
- Scheduling: Develop and maintain schedules for medical assistants to ensure adequate coverage during clinic hours.
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for new and existing medical assistants, ensuring they are up-to date with the latest medical procedures, protocols, and clinic policies
- Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring timely procurement and stocking.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information and medical records. Prepare reports as required by the clinic coordinator or management.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in the implementation of clinic policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Liaison Role: Act as a liaison between medical assistants, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations.
- Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise among the medical assistant team or between staff and patients.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in clinic meetings and provide input on ways to improve patient care and clinic operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.
Active Medical Assistant Certification is required.
BLS Certification Required.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team. Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
