Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Emergency Department at St. Anthony Summit Hospital is a Level III trauma center, with specialized orthopedic trauma care. We also provide excellent stroke, STEMI, and sepsis care, consistently exceeding benchmarks. We have a comprehensive in-house forensic nurse examiner program. These specialized nurses work closely with the ED to provide trauma informed care to all patients experiencing intentional trauma. Our patient mix includes ortho trauma, cardiac, stroke, behavioral health, substance abuse, pediatric illness, and trauma.
We do not experience overflow from other nursing departments. Our mission emphasizes collaboration to promote compassionate and excellent care. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for:
- Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
Job Requirements
In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified nursing candidates will need the following:
Education Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs
Experience Requirements
- One year recent RN Emergency Room experience required
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
Licenses/Certification Requirements
- RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
- BLS through AHA required
- ACLS through AHA required
- ENPC or PALS required
- TNCC required
- NIHSS required
Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
PRN is 5 shifts in 6 weeks. PRN differential is 20% of base pay rate.
