As an Urgent Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you’ll provide efficient, patient-centered care while helping reduce unnecessary emergency room visits—making a meaningful difference every day.
What You’ll Do
Fast-Paced Clinical Care
- Evaluate and treat a wide range of acute illnesses and minor injuries
- Perform physical exams and patient assessments with speed and accuracy
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
- Perform minor procedures including wound care, suturing, splinting, and infection management
Patient Experience & Education
- Provide clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Deliver compassionate, efficient care that prioritizes patient satisfaction
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with a supportive, multidisciplinary care team
- Assist with care coordination, referrals, and follow-ups as needed
- Contribute to a positive, high-performing clinic culture
Core Responsibilities
Assessment & Clinical Judgment
- Assess acute, urgent, and occasionally complex patients for signs of instability
- Use clinical data to quickly determine appropriate care plans and next steps
Intervention & Treatment
- Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute conditions
- Evaluate risks, benefits, and appropriateness of treatments and procedures
Care Management
- Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust plans accordingly
- Promote injury prevention, health maintenance, and patient safety
- Support smooth transitions of care when escalation or referral is needed
Education & Leadership
- Serve as a resource for patients, families, and clinical staff
- Participate in training, mentoring, and precepting students and new providers
Quality & Safety
- Champion a culture of patient safety and continuous improvement
- Report and address safety concerns through established processes

Qualifications
Education
- Master’s Degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies
Licensure & Certifications
- Active, unrestricted Louisiana APRN or PA license (or eligible temporary permit)
- DEA registration and Louisiana Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
