OTP LPN Medication Room Nurse

$25 - $30 / hour

Location: This position will provide coverage primarily at our West side location at 6460 Harrison Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45247 and may occasionally provide coverage as needed at our Forest Park or OTR sites.  

 

Sunrise Treatment Center is an outpatient opiate addiction treatment facility. We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, for a structured, lower-volume nursing role where you would prepare and dispense buprenorphine and methadone medication from our on-site dispensary.

Our ideal candidate would prioritize patient safety, accuracy, and consistency. This position offers a predictable pace, meaningful exposure to regulatory standards, making it ideal for nurses interested in compliance focused practice while being given the opportunity to focus on quality of care without the demands of high patient volumes.

This role offers significant hands on exposure to regulatory and compliance requirements, including medication handling, documentation standards, audits, and policy adherence. 

This role requires a dependable nurse who has excellent computer skills, relevant field experience, and someone looking to take on a more sedentary role, away from floor nursing. If this sounds appealing, this job may be for you. 

Please note that this position may at times require you to work as a solitary nurse within the med room.

Summary/Objective

Provide excellent patient care to our clients as well as adhering to the proper procedures and processes as they are outlined below. This is a nursing position that will allow for a much sought after work/life balance. This position is largely administrative, consisting mostly of pharmacy type work, with minimal standing.

Essential Functions

Record client information, generate reports, and dispense buprenorphine using multiple computerized systems.

  • Remain current with changes in policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in relevant continuing education and in-service training to improve professional competency.
  • Adhere to DEA and Board of Pharmacy guidelines.
  • Provide emergency first aid to clients.
  • Preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medication.
  • Drawing labs.
  • Preparing and/or administering injections.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all facility medications.

Supervision

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, pill counters, calculators, printers, scanners and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The hours for this position are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm. Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am - 5:30pm. Saturday’s 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This position will require an every other week Saturday rotation.

Travel

If staffing is unavailable, additional travel to other Sunrise Treatment Center could be offered in the event of an immediate coverage need. Additional pay for travel and mileage reimbursement would be given for other locations not listed in this job description.

Required Education and Experience

Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), CPR and first aid certification. Must be in good standing with Ohio Medicaid billing practices. Must pass an FBI background check and fingerprinting prior to start date.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience dispensing medication in a medication assisted treatment program or pharmacy experience.
