Welcome to Fish Pond Surgery Center

We have 5 OR rooms and 1 Treatment room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Podiatry, Urology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Fish Pond Surgery Center

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures.  Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification as required by state and/or center
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
  • Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Job Summary: The Surgical Technician is responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. May perform any of the following duties with the goal of preparing the room and the patient for the surgical procedure: Setting up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure Sterilizing equipment and taking an inventory to ensure there are enough supplies for surgery Preparing the patient for surgery Passing the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the operation Taking a count of all surgical sponges and sharps prior to the operation Recounting surgical instruments and supplies at the end of the operation Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery Stocking rooms, picking supplies for cases, assisting with departmental daily tasks.
