  • UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities

  • Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
  • Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
  • Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current Texas RN license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required within 14 days of hire and before providing direct patient care
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • One year of emergency nursing experience
  • Two years of acute care nursing experience
  • CEN
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

Ensures timely submission of the MDSs to the State with proper follow-up on validation errors. Maintains validation records from the submission process in a systematic and orderly fashion. Qualifications Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse / License Vocational Nurse program and licensed in the state of practice required. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred. Excellent knowledge of Case- Mix, the Federal Medicare PPS process, and Medicaid reimbursement, as required. Through understanding of the Quality Indicator process. Knowledge of the OBRA regulations and Minimum Data Set. Knowledge of the care planning process.
