Job Summary Certified Medication Aide (CMA) will be under the direct supervision of the charge nurse. The charge nurse will follow up with the CMA to ensure the med pass is completed timely and accurately to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to communicate effectively in English through both speech and writing. Previous patient care experience preferred. Current certification for Medication Aide. CLINICAL Participate in Shift Report. Perform routine patient care in accordance with Federal, State, Company and Center nursing policies and procedures. Employs preventative and restorative measures. Follows hand washing techniques and other infection control guidelines during the performance of patient care. ADMINISTRATIVE • Reports promptly any change of patient condition or other concerns to Patient Care Supervisor. • Follow charting guidelines for PRN documentation. • Reports medication reorder, etc. • Participates in all assigned meetings. • Participates in all training, education or in-service as required. • Inventory drugs, on the designated forms, as they arrive. Objective Provides basic nursing care to residents within the scope of the nursing assistant responsibilities and performs basic nursing procedures under the direction of the licensed nurse supervisor. Principal Responsibilities · Participates in and receives nursing report upon reporting for duty · Assists residents with resident care including bathing, grooming, hygiene and placement of adaptive equipment · Explains procedures to residents before administering · Keeps residents dry (changes gown, clothing, linen, etc., when it becomes wet or soiled) · Changes bed linens and keeps linens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under residents · Makes beds (occupied and unoccupied) Qualifications · Successful completion of State Approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; Name must appear on State Registry as Nurse Aide in good standing; Ability to communicate with residents and nursing staff; Must have the ability to read and write. · Prior experience as Nurse Aide preferred but not required
