As a Unit Assistant/Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing interpersonal and clerical support to the neighborhood residents, families, and staff. Assist nurse manager with data gathering, neighborhood organization, and clerical tasks as directed. Attend trainings. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Our Unit Assistant/Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for the following:
- Maintain accurate resident records, identification information, charts, and census data in compliance with facility standards.
- Schedule medical appointments, diagnostic tests, transportation, and obtain required pre-certifications.
- Prepare and organize documentation required for resident appointments, admissions, transfers, discharges, and hospital returns.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to nursing staff, including answering phones, relaying messages, and assisting families.
- Ensure medical records are current, organized, accurate, and readily accessible while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
- Coordinate communication with physicians, departments, residents, families, and external healthcare providers.
- Monitor and maintain nursing station supplies, submit maintenance requests, and support a clean, safe work environment.
- Assist with regulatory compliance, record audits, diagnosis coding, required postings, and documentation standards.
- Support resident care by promoting dignity, respect, positive customer service, and assisting with Infection Control initiatives.
- Participate in staff training, support onboarding of new employees, and assist as a Nursing Assistant when needed.
What You Need as a Unit Assistant/Nursing Assistant (CNA):
- Must be, as a minimum, a high school graduate. No experience required. On the job training in provided. However, a basic knowledge of medical terminology and nursing practices is helpful.
- Attend an participate in continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as per the Nurse Manager.
- Must possess a current N.A certification in good standing.
- Responsible to renew N.A. certification in a timely manner.
