Position Summary: 

Performs clinical duties in physician practices under the direction of the practice manager and physicians. Responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, administering injections and medications, performing EKGs and other point of care testing and treatments, triaging phone calls and electronic messages, and performing check out duties. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values.  

 

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:   

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent  

Experience: Previous medical assistant experience in vital sign accuracy, EKGs, medication administration, and immunizations

Prepare and maintain instruments, supplies, and equipment used during patient care. Assist with procedures involving the ear, nose, and throat as directed by the provider. Perform or assist with basic clinical testing as appropriate, including hearing-related testing when trained and authorized. Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record. Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent clinical information. Assist with specimen collection and proper handling as directed. Clean and disinfect examination rooms and equipment according to infection prevention standards. Monitor and maintain adequate clinical supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be ordered. Assist providers with patient education and instructions.
