PeaceHealth PeaceHarbor is now accepting applications for New Graduate Nurses to participate in our Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program in Florence, Oregon. This full time, 0.90 FTE Variable position is an exceptional opportunity for new graduate nurses to join a program designed to foster technical expertise, compassionate care and professional growth.

Our 12-month transition-to-practice program offers interactive, evidence-based curriculum that builds clinical skills, leadership and confidence in the professional nurse role. What you bring:

  • Recent RN graduate (within 12 month) or a RN licensed less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience
  • Active Oregon RN license by date of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
  • Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period
  • Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standards
  • Commitment to a 12-month program and willingness to sign a 2-year agreement

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $49.30 – $77.46. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Document in patients’ medical records Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross within one year of hire New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
