Job Overview

We have an opportunity for a PRN Medical Assistant in our Outpatient Department.  

 

The Medical Assistant (MA) has responsibilities related to patient care in the outpatient clinic environment. The MA displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care, including but not limited to obtaining heights, weights and vital signs in addition to gathering pertinent patient history and medication information. The MA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient patient flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety.  Will be cross-trained in casting.

Responsibilities

Assessment/Patient Care• Assists physicians, nursing and other health care professional with procedures, the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents findings during the intake process in the EMR.

Communication• Provides effective communication with patients and families that will enable safe and effective patient care.• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.• Communicates with family effectively regarding referrals to other sources.

Customer Service• Transfers and assists patients to examining rooms and other departments as necessary. Informs patients of any delays in care. Escorts patients to other services when needed.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required within 30-90 days of hire)

 

Preferred:

  • 1 year pediatric/ambulatory care experience
  • EMR systems experience
  • RMA, CCMA, NCMA
  • Spanish proficiency
  • Familiarity with MS Office tools, HIPAA, infection control, patient safety protocols
  • Interest in casting
