Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) - APP - Per Diem - UNC Neonatology at Lenoir

Description

UNCHMG Neonatology at Lenoir in partnership with UNC Health Lenoir, located in Kinston, NC, are currently seeking certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners to work fulltime at our Level 1 Nursery. We also have opportunities for Per Diem. You will be part of a highly educated and trained team of physicians (pediatricians and consulting neonatologists) and nurses with the aim of providing excellent care to newborns. This position allows for flexibility and seeks strong experience and leadership qualities. Our daily census is very manageable and allows for day-to-day flexibility for a strong and experienced candidate. The role requires the ability to practice independently, with ample remote support from experienced MDs.

 Schedule: 

  • Days: 7 days on - 7 days off – there is a potential for this model to be adjusted based on candidate experience
  • 7am-7pm – there is overnight call covered by other providers
  • Fulltime and Per Diem openings!

 Responsibilities:

  • Primary caregiver in Level 1 Nursery to newborn infants
  • Assessing & diagnosing newborn infants
  • Prescribing medication on your own authority with the agreement of supervising physician 
  • Educating/supporting parents/guardians in the care of their newborn
  • Ordering/performing medical tests and procedures
  • Working independently with remote MD support
  • Preparing for transfer, if needed, to local Level 2-3 NICUs 
  • Comfort and experience with procedures such as neonatal intubations and central line placements is highly sought after and preferred

Qualifications: 

  • Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
  • L&D, Nursery or Pediatric NP work experience required
  • Work independently with remote supervising physician oversight
