Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for GYN oncology patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting
Admit and discharge patients on behalf of the attending physician
Initiate and document appropriate interventions
Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
Prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
Assist in the operating room
Round on surgical patients
Assess patient and family needs and provide education
Promote/provide staff education
Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
Incorporate evidence-based research into clinical practice
Maintenance of active hospital privileges

Qualifications

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Post MSN oncology/gyn oncology nursing or Physician Assistant experience preferred
Patient and surgical skill set experience preferred
Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment preferred
RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
Must be available to work Saturdays
Prefer acute care experience or prior privileges in acute care
Must be willing to travel to the various hospitals and practice locations

Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Office Nurse Practitioner works under supervision and clinical guidance of the practice physician(s).
