Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Surgical Technician II in the Operating Room you will deliver high quality, patient centered care as you assist staff during operative and invasive procedures. You will ensure the operating room is adequately prepared for procedures and act as a preceptor for other techs as needed. Our team supports each other like family and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.
In this role:
You will be competent in all Level II procedures (spine, peripheral CV, advanced endoscopic, multi-specialty procedures) as verified by specific competencies.
You will work with Housekeeping and Central Processing staff to clean the Operating Rooms and equipment between patients following facility policies and procedures.
You will participate in safety initiates to ensure correct surgery inpatient identification, and verification of the procedure to be performed within the OR when the patient is present and prior to the surgical prep.
You will rely on previous experience to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon.
You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
You will consistently assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well- stocked/organized, and safe patient care environment.

What qualifications you will need:

Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
(CST) Certified Surgical Technologist, or (TS-C) Tech in Surgery - Certified
At least 1 year of hospital experience strongly preferred

Job Description Primary responsibility involves performance of specific tasks, as a scrub technologist and/or during surgical procedures to facilitate the efficient and safe progress of the surgical case. Assists with the maintenance of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains positive customer relations. Shall demonstrate competency and possess the technical skills appropriate for his/her assigned cases and utilizes that knowledge in assisting others. Performs various duties within his/her scope of responsibility and is accountable to the Clinical Manager. Responsibilities General Duties Checks daily assignment. Reviews surgical preference lists to clarify surgical routine and update preference lists as needed. Utilize resources to obtain needed supplies for the case. Checks table(s) for complete readiness for each procedure. Ensures all items needed for the case are present: Obtains physician’s special instruments and sutures prior to start of the case. Demonstrates knowledge and dexterity in handling of special supplies and equipment and assures its proper functioning. Is knowledgeable of the specifics of the surgical procedure and able to perform these tasks in an organized and efficient manner. Under the surgeon’s supervision, assists with suctioning secretions, holding retractors, assisting with skin closure, cutting sutures and irrigating wounds. Circulates for operative procedures under supervision of R.N. At the end of procedure assist with site care Cleanses operative site. Connects drainage tubes to appropriate devices. Assists and/or applied sterile dressing. Assists with patient transfer to bed/stretcher. Covers soiled gloves with clean exam gloves. Assists with transfer with adequate number of assistants present. Responsible for knowing and using good body mechanics. Disassembles table(s) contents and instruments, and places in proper receptacles for cleaning. Sends (appropriate) instruments to CSR and/or clean up room for terminal cleaning. Functions as a Patient Advocate. Is aware of physical and emotional needs at all times and gives appropriate care and comfort. Will assist any patient in need, not just those assigned to his/her care. Protects patient’s dignity while anesthetized by avoiding unnecessary exposure. Protects patient’s privacy by insuring confidentiality of chart and history. Keeps operative field free of unused instruments, equipment, and sharps. Receives instruments from surgeon. Keeps instruments clean by wiping blood and tissue from instruments. Removes unnecessary articles from the operative field. Follows universal precautions according to hospital policy. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (e.g. BSN required, MSN preferred.): Has contact with physicians, families, and other hospital personnel related to care of assigned patients. Sound judgment and knowledge of scientific principles must be used. Competency in selected skills is required through hospital provided instruction. Frequent exposure to stressful patient situations requires the ability to maintain composure in order to respond swiftly and effectively to patient needs. EDUCATION: The surgical technologist has completed education in surgical technology and/or has completed on the job experience/training which allows the technologist to obtain certification. Primary Responsibilities Support network pricing strategies and tactics in collaboration with local network field leaders and network managers Analyze financial impact of provider contracts Evaluate financial impact of corporate initiatives and external regulations Review payment appendices and develop options for various contracting approaches and methodologies Communicate financial impact findings and insights to stakeholder groups Conduct financial and network pricing modeling, analysis, and reporting Provide mentorship and engage in detailed peer review activities Perform unit cost and contract valuation analysis to support network contracting and unit cost management strategies Lead large and complex analytical projects to support key business objectives Influence pricing strategies and rate development by identifying opportunities or safeguarding favorable structures Collaborate with Network Management to strategize rates or contract methodologies Review competitive analysis to determine appropriate provider pricing You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related field 4+ years of analytical experience 3+ years of experience with provider payment methodologies and healthcare products Experience presenting to internal or external stakeholders Financial impact analysis and data manipulation skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Demonstrated ability to interpret financial modeling results and develop forecasts Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated ability to research and solve problems independently Preferred Qualifications Experience with advanced statistical functions for financial modeling Experience with various payment methodology types Knowledge of commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid PPO/HMO revenue and expense patterns Solid interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation, and communication abilities All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
