Emergency Department Highlights
Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
We specialize in women’s services, perioperative services, heart and vascular care, acute care/med surg, intermediate care/step-down, oncology, behavioral health, and emergency medicine. Additional specialties include nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, respiratory therapy, and neuroscience care, including neurosurgery and stroke.
Texas Health HEB is ANCC Magnet Designated, Joint Commission-certified in Chest Pain (PHAC), a Primary Stroke Center, a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU and Level III for maternal care. - Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
- The professional nurse exhibits an understanding of basic human needs.
- The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred
- 1 year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Req
- CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire
- NIHSS - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days of hire
- ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 12 months required
- TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course within 12 months required
- ED experience strongly preferred
Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
