Encore Village of Schaumburg is currrently hiring for full time and part time Certified Nursing Assistants in our Supportive Living Department. Supportive Living C.N.A. will perform duties that assist the professional nurses in providing care to residents according to their individualized care plan and facility policies and procedures. With emphasis on a restorative philosophy, Certified Nursing Assistant's perform duties that assist the resident with their activities of daily living and enhance their quality of life. (PHI)
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, performing simple chores like bed making, apartment upkeep and maintaining personal items, and other ADLs and IADLs. (Note: Certified Nursing Assistants will pull trash and change linens between housekeeping visits when necessary.)
- Record significant progress, changes or deficits in their capabilities in resident's record.
- Provide health and wellness services according to each resident's service plan, including but not limited to: vital signs, medication reminders and assistance opening medication bottles, range of motion exercises, monitoring intake/output, and glucose monitoring. Deliver meals to ill residents approved for temporary room service.
- Assist with emergency clean-ups, summoning help from housekeeping or maintenance as appropriate.
- Immediately record care/services provided; enter into electronic database at the end of shift.
- Treat residents with respect and dignity al all times, maintaining and insuring their privacy, dignity and independence, and the confidentiality of their personal and health records.
- Advise residents about programs and services available in the community and/or refer their questions to other departments as appropriate.
- Report significant incidents and resident changes to charge nurse/supervisor.
- Transport/transfer any resident as needed per facility policies. Assist when needed in the community and with programs, special events and outings.
- Actively participate in continuing education, fire drills, and in-service trainings.
- Communicatets with residents, families, significant others, and co-workers utilizing a pleasant positive approach.
- Participates in orientation of new staff as to the role and duties of Supportive Living C.N.A. Provides in-services as appropriate.
- Reports any changes or emergencies to supervisor immediately.
- Maintains confidentiality of all residents (PHI).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Environmental and Physical Demands:
- Constantly standing, walking, talking, hearing, and repetive movement.
- Occasionally sitting, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs, ladders or other climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, tasting and smelling.
- Constantly being able to move from waist to shoulder height and waist and below.
- Occasionally being able to move from shoulder and above.
- Being able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Occasionally being able to lift over 100 lbs. if a resident falls.
- Constantly being able to utilize color vision (identifying and distinguishing colors, peripheral depth perception, and the ability to focus).
- Occasionally being able to look at a computer monitor.
- Occasionally being exposed to biohazard materials and bodily fluids/blood.
- Being able to operate motor vehicle as well as other equipment.
- Being exposed to animals (laboratory or other).
- Required to wear protective clothing and respiratory protection other than surgical mask.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
- Successful completion of basic course of instruction which has been approved by Illinois Department of Public Health. Current State of Illinois C.N.A. Certificate.
- Current CPR Card
Experience:
- May be new graduate or pending certificate when staffing patterns can accommodate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and push residents in wheelchair frequently.
- Must be able to transfer and/or lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to communicate with residents and associates.
- Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Exposure to communicable disease.
- Must be able to work with ill, disabled elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility. (PHI)
- Ability and willingness to work more than usual hyours when needed, possibly during different shifts, weekends or holidays.
- Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Meet all local health regulations and pass post offer pre-employment physical exam, if required, which may include drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
- Capable of performing the responsibilities and essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Computer literate.
Other Qualifications:
- May be required to drive company van to transport residents to and from appointments.
