Job Title: Pain Management Advance Practice Provider (APP)

Location: Kennebunk Pain Care Maine Health

Employment Type: 0.5 FTE

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Associate/Assistant (PA) to join our comprehensive pain management team. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to evaluate, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. This role includes independent follow-up care, participation in new patient consultations under physician supervision, and responsible pain medication management in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent follow-up visits for patients with chronic pain conditions
  • Participate in new patient consultations in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in coordination with the care team
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with CDC and state guidelines
  • Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness, and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide patient education on pain management strategies, medication safety, and lifestyle modifications
  • Collaborate closely with interventional pain physicians.
  • Coordinate care with social workers to support patients’ psychosocial and behavioral health needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical, and clinical standards of care

  • Biceps tendon sheath injection
  • Piriformis Injection
  • Greater Trochanteric bursa injections
  • Knee injection/aspiration
  • deeper trigger points

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Master's Degree required.
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure. Certification of Physician Associate/Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required for PA's.Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., FNP, AGNP)
  • DEA license with prescriptive authority
  • Experience in pain management, primary care, or related field preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of CDC guidelines for opioid prescribing and pain management best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an APP
  • Prior experience in pain management, musculoskeletal care, primary care, or related field preferred
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrated care settings.
