The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Join Mercy’s Spine & Pain Management team and play a vital role in delivering specialized, patient-centered care. This PRN RN opportunity offers a dynamic clinical environment where you’ll support advanced pain management treatments and make a meaningful impact on patients’ quality of life.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assess patients, including pain evaluations, vitals, and medical history
  • Assist providers with spine and pain management procedures and treatments
  • Administer medications and injections; support IV therapy as needed
  • Monitor patients and respond to changes in condition
  • Coordinate care, including follow-ups, referrals, and patient education
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical standards
  • Support a safe, efficient clinic environment and assist with lab/testing as needed

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments and common safety practices.

Licensure: Current valid state license.

Experience: Not required.

Certifications: CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.

Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies. Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public. Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or the ability to learn these skills, in order to access information and enter clinical data. Equipment Used: Must be able to operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic.

Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more. The Ambulatory Surgery Department (ASD) reviews documentation for completeness and makes sure all chart requirements are met for surgical candidates prior to surgery. It also serves as a phase II recovery area for ''day surgery'' patients (those who are anticipated to go home after their procedure). Pre-Admission Testing is a subset of ASD and does pre-admission screening and testing for surgical patients.
