Description
The Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center (EKVC) is a 120-bed long-term care facility providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative care exclusively to Kentucky's Veterans. Proudly operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, EKVC was built with a single purpose, to honor and care for those who have served our nation.
We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Charge Nurse (Registered Nurse) to join our leadership team. This position serves as the lead nurse on an assigned shift, providing clinical leadership, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring our Veteran residents receive exceptional, resident-centered care. This position, in the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center Nursing Services Department, in Perry County, KY, has an approved Locality Premium of $14.53 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provide first-line leadership and supervision to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Aides, and other nursing support staff
- Coordinate daily staffing assignments to ensure quality resident care and appropriate unit coverage
- Assess resident conditions and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans
- Communicate changes in resident condition with physicians, APRNs, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families
- Ensure nursing care is delivered in accordance with professional standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality assurance, resident assessments, and staff development initiatives
- Mentor and orient new nursing staff while serving as a clinical resource for the team
- Respond to emergency situations and provide direct nursing care as needed
- Assist with performance coaching, documentation, and evaluation of nursing staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned
