Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, Kansas
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) delivers expert, high-acuity care to patients presenting with complex, urgent, and life-threatening conditions in a fast-paced Emergency Department. This role requires advanced clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, and strong prioritizing skills to stabilize patients and drive optimal outcomes in time-sensitive situations.
Responsibilities
Delivers decisive, high-acuity emergency care while leading rapid assessment, intervention, and coordination to stabilize patients and drive optimal outcomes.
- Perform rapid triage, assessment, and patient stabilization
- Deliver high-acuity care including IV therapy, medications, and cardiac monitoring
- Respond to emergencies and clinical deterioration with speed and precision
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on real-time care decisions
- Ensure accurate, compliant documentation (EMTALA, regulatory standards)
- Educate patients and families on treatment and discharge plans
- Maintain patient safety, HIPAA compliance, and quality care standards
- Apply expertise in trauma care, arrhythmia interpretation, and emergency protocols
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- 1. Current and valid state RN License.
- 2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- 3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- 4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- 5. Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- 6. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required.
- 7. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
- 8. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- 9. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
- 1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
- 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
- 3. Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
