Cleveland Clinic’s Neurological Institute is a global leader in the treatment and research of complex neurological disorders. Our dedicated neurosurgery teams perform some of the most advanced brain and spine procedures using innovative technology and minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. As a caregiver within the Neuro/Spine Operating Room, you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional care for patients undergoing complex procedures while collaborating with experts at the forefront of neurological medicine.
Caregivers support patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including epilepsy, Chiari malformation, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, brain and spinal tumors, hydrocephalus, facial pain, skull base disorders and other highly complex neurological conditions. New Graduate RN Surgery Resident - Neuro/Spine OR:
Begin your nursing career in a supportive, specialized environment designed to help you succeed. Through a comprehensive residency program and dedicated mentorship, new graduate nurses gain the knowledge, confidence and experience needed to provide exceptional perioperative care.
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
Document in patients’ medical records.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience
RN Surgery - Neuro/Spine OR:
Join a highly specialized surgical team caring for patients undergoing advanced neurological procedures. In this role, you will work collaboratively with surgeons, surgical technologists and interdisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient and exceptional surgical outcomes.
Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
Perform scrub and circulating functions.
Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
*If performing moderate/procedural sedation must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.
One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
