Position Overview
As an Activity Aide, you will assist in planning, organizing, and leading recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities that promote residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Working closely with the Activities Director and interdisciplinary team, you will help create an engaging environment where residents feel valued, connected, and encouraged to participate.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning and implementing daily group and individual activities for residents.
Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences, abilities, and limitations.
Help transport residents to and from activity programs as needed.
Set up, decorate, and clean activity areas before and after events.
Develop positive relationships with residents and provide encouragement during activities.
Assist with holiday celebrations, special events, outings, and themed programs.
Maintain activity supplies and report inventory needs to the Activities Director.
Document resident attendance and participation according to facility policy.
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other departments to support resident-centered programming.
Promote a safe, positive, and welcoming environment while maintaining resident dignity and confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Activities Director.
Qualifications
Previous experience in activities, recreation, customer service, healthcare, or working with older adults is preferred, but not required.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Must be able to assist residents with mobility and activity participation as needed.
