Work hours: Full-Time, 36 hours weekly, (3) 12-hour Night shifts 7pm-7am, including weekends and holidays

Training: Must be able to attend training at the corporate office in Arlington from 8am-5pm during the first 1-5 days of hire.

Nursing Diploma required or
Associate’s degree in Nursing required or
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
1 year experience as registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
3 years of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience strongly preferred
Texas RN - Registered Nurse required upon hire and
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required upon hire and maintained quarterly
NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire and
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required within 90 days of hire and maintained annually

Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of the post-Partum department and Parkland. Provides direction to nursing and non-nursing personnel. Provides appropriate hand off any time care is relinquished. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals and objectives of the department and Parkland. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experience staff and team members as needed. Serves as Charge Nurse on rotation as necessary. Serves as a preceptor or resource to nursing staff members. Prepares and conducts an educational in-service at least once per year. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the post-Partum department and Parkland. May serve on various interdisciplinary committees as assigned. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in nursing practice by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals and actively participating in professional organizations. Maintains State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse, plus any additional required licensures/certifications. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Supports breastfeeding by incorporating evidence-based practice that promotes breastfeeding success with the aim to increase rates of breastfeeding initiation, duration and exclusivity.
