Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Responsibilities

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you'll play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by providing compassionate, hands-on care while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.

  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility

  • Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable resident rooms

  • Prepare rooms with necessary supplies, linens, and equipment

  • Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team

  • Document resident care accurately and promptly

  • Encourage resident engagement, social interaction, and emotional well-being

  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and fellow caregivers to provide outstanding care

  • Follow all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Active, unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

  • Long-term care experience preferred but not required

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Purpose of Your Job Position The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. Delegation of Authority As a Certified Nursing Assistant you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Specific Requirements Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served. Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition. Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace. Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices) Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
