Summary

The nurse resident will initiate a professional nursing practice career in a supportive environment committed to mentoring, coaching and learning. They will build confidence through a structured, professional transition to practice experience that is customized to individual developmental needs. Nurse Residents will create and enhance professional networks and relationships with peers during the residency, while honing and developing clinical and leadership skills. Scheduled eight-hour paid education days off the unit are required for residents to participate in class activities. The entire residency program length is 12 months with the inclusion of the unit specific orientation that is either 12 or 16 weeks in length depending on the unit. The Residency program also includes informal, one-on-one meetings at scheduled intervals throughout the program to provide additional support and to monitor the nurse residents' progress. Residents will also participate in evaluation of their own individual progress as well as evaluation of the overall program.

We are currently looking for a Nurse Resident for our 3 Central (ICE-T/CAR-T) unit. This 12 bed Inpatient Unit and an 8 bay Outpatient Treatment Center provides a dynamic working environment specializing in Immune Cellular Therapy patients. The patient’s immune cells are removed from the body, reengineered in a lab and then infused back into the patient. These new immune cells seek out and destroy the cancerous cells.

The Cellular Immunotherapy Program at Moffitt Cancer Center is an innovative treatment approach that harnesses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer. At Moffitt Cancer Center, we offer several types of cellular immunotherapy, including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, T-cell receptor (TCR) therapy, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) therapy, dendritic cell vaccine and we are continually investigating additional options. These novel treatments are helping to transform the landscape for many current and future cancer patients. We are fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), speaking to the unwavering dedication and expertise of our team.

At Moffitt, cellular immunotherapy is currently being used in a number of ways.

CAR T-cell therapy: can be used to treat certain types of cancer, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, transformed follicular lymphoma and follicular lymphoma.

TCR gene transfers: require human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matching, can be used to treat several types of malignancies, including lung cancer, sarcomas and multiple myeloma.

TIL therapy: can be used to treat malignant melanoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, genitourinary carcinoma and lung cancer.

The Ideal Candidate

  • BSN graduates interested in beginning or transitioning to the specialty of Oncology Ambulatory Care.

Credentials And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) RN-Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of FL, or a valid Multi-State privilege to practice in FL (must declare FL as primary State of residence within 60 days from date of hire if licensed in another eNLC compact state with multi-state privileges)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • The Residency program also includes informal, one-on-one meetings at scheduled intervals throughout the program to provide additional support and to monitor the newly licensed nurse's progress.
  • Residents will also participate in evaluation of their own individual progress as well as evaluation of the overall program.
  • All Nurse Residents will be required to sign a Commitment Agreement, agreeing to work for a minimum of two (2) years in the Cancer Center as a Registered Nurse in good working standards complying with all polices and protocols of the Cancer Center. In the event the employee does not successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program or thereafter the commitment of two (2) full years of employment in the Cancer Center after completion of the program, employee agrees to refund the Cancer Center a pro-rated amount of the cost for the program. Salary Range

$36.79 - $55.17

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
