Key Qualifications:
- Active RN or LPN license (LPNs must have ventilator experience)
- Previous experience working with ventilator-dependent individuals
- Certification as a school nurse is a plus
- Ability to provide compassionate care for students with physical challenges
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with school staff and families
- Willingness to ride the bus to and from school with the student
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized nursing care for a high-functioning, paralyzed high school student during school hours and bus transport
- Monitor medical needs, administer medications, and manage the student’s ventilator
- Maintain thorough documentation of health status, treatments, and interventions
- Work closely with educational and medical teams to adapt care plans and ensure a safe, nurturing environment
- Provide support, encouragement, and advocacy for the student’s full participation in school life
This consistent schedule offers 30 hours per week, with school-provided transportation responsibilities and all Wednesdays off as the student does not attend that day. You’ll have the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with your student and support their continued success in an academic setting.
