This is a benefited, full-time position (80 hours every 2 weeks) working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. No weekends or evenings. Shift times may vary based on department needs. Located in Encinitas off Santa Fe Drive but you may be floated to other Scripps Clinics on an as needed basis.

What You'll Do

  • Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

Required Certification/Registration

  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification

  • One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
