We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Risk & Education to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for a passionate nursing professional who excels in clinical education, quality improvement, risk management, and developing strong nursing teams.
The ADON – Risk & Education will work closely with the Director of Nursing and facility leadership to ensure the delivery of exceptional resident care, regulatory compliance, staff education, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of daily nursing operations and clinical services.
Develop, coordinate, and provide ongoing education and training for nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
Lead orientation programs and ensure new employees receive appropriate clinical training.
Monitor clinical practices to ensure compliance with facility policies, CMS regulations, and state requirements.
Identify educational opportunities based on quality metrics, audits, incidents, and clinical trends.
Support infection prevention initiatives and promote best practices throughout the facility.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.
Review incident reports, identify risk areas, and assist with developing corrective action plans.
Conduct clinical audits to ensure accuracy of documentation and adherence to care standards.
Assist with survey preparation and regulatory compliance activities.
Provide coaching and mentorship to nursing staff to promote professional growth and accountability.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to improve resident outcomes and satisfaction.
Assist with developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
Previous leadership experience as an ADON, RN Supervisor, Nurse Educator, Infection Preventionist, or similar nursing leadership role preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, state requirements, and survey processes.
Experience with clinical education, staff development, and quality improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze clinical data and implement effective improvement strategies.
Passion for resident-centered care and developing healthcare professionals.
