POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is responsible for overall care of assigned residents and supervision of direct care staff in the community. 0600-1800 or 1800-0600.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current, valid RN license.
  • Experience in long-term healthcare preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed, both verbal and written documentation.

 

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Help implement and evaluate care plans for individual care of each resident as a RN.
  • Maintains appropriate nursing service objectives, goals, and standards of nursing practices.
  • Receive, transcribe, and implement physician’s orders in a timely manner as a RN.
  • Reports required condition changes, events to appropriate parties.
  • Administers medication/treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitors infection control compliance.
  • Investigates/documents accidents/incidents.

Shifts will be pre-determined and reflected on the schedule. In collaboration with the physician, the Dialysis RN assures implementation of the assessment plan, evaluation, and follow-up of the plan of care for the patient population. Coordinates daily dialysis operations.Assists the CNO with projects, including data collection, implementation, and outcome monitoring. Manages nursing and on-call schedule to ensure coverage for routine and urgent dialysis care delivery.Supports adherence of established dialysis policies, procedures, standards, and evidence-based practice (EVP) guidelines. Assists in all licensing/accreditation survey process and preparation. Collaborates to ensure compliant infection control and regulatory readiness. Oversees the dialysis department environmental safety functions. Oversees preparation of the delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer and confirms that all mandatory alarm tests on the dialyzer and equipment are performed. Oversees disassembly and disinfection of dialysis equipment. Monitors and ensures dialysis machines are properly maintained. Performs surveillance and testing of dialysis water treatment equipment and dialysis water (such as chlorine, hardness, conductivity, water cultures) to ensure that these machines are operating within the parameters set in the policy and procedure. Complies with required logs, testing and cultures to comply with policy and procedure and regulatory standards. Assures policies, procedures and practices support compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Communicate with the Chief Nursing Officer if there are issues within the department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum requirements: Valid temporary or permanent State Registered Nurse License. At least one (1) year of Hemodialysis experience BLS required. ACLS required within 6 months of hire. Must be dependable, with good communication skills, able to represent the Dialysis department professionally.
