Responsibilities

Coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of services.  Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his / her assigned service area.  The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training and / or experience.

Qualifications

Experience:  Minimum of two years clinical experience in hospital setting for Case Management required.  Prefer Utilization Review / Discharge Planning background.

 

Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc.: Maintain current professional Texas RN licensure.

 

Special Skills, Knowledge:  Ability to work with multidisciplinary staff.  Working knowledge of current Medicaid / Medicare guidelines. 

 

Education:  Graduate from an accredited School of Registered Nursing.

Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting. Prefer knowledge of hospital admission functions, psychological assessment and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management. Understanding of EMTALA guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and third-party payer knowledge preferred. Ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinion.
