As a student in an approved registered nurse or practical nurse school of nursing, the Earn as You Learn Tech participates in clinical course work under the direction of an RN. The Earn as You Learn Tech assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness working cooperatively with others as part of the healthcare team and performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the scope of the designated nursing school program. This position is specifically designated for individuals enrolled in an accredited nursing program seeking clinical experience as part of their education curriculum. It is important to note that this role is not a paid or employed position with Mercy. Instead, it is a learning opportunity aimed at fulfilling educational requirements and gaining hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. The Earn as You Learn Tech's participation in this program is voluntary and solely for educational purposes. The Earn as You Learn Tech will work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals to enhance their clinical skills, develop critical thinking abilities, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-life patient care scenarios.

Eligibility & Program Requirements

To participate in Mercy’s Earn As You Learn (EAYL) Program, applicants must:

1. Be enrolled in the final semester of an accredited RN or LPN nursing program (December 2026 Grad).

2. Complete their senior practicum within Mercy Hospital St. Louis Medical-Surgical Service Line.

3. Accept a bedside nursing position with Mercy upon graduation.

4. Commit to a minimum six-month employment agreement following graduation.

*Students are encouraged to complete their practicum on the unit where they hope to begin their nursing career.
