Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a positive working relationship with residents, family members and staff.
  • Promotes and protects residents rights and treats residents with dignity and respect.
  • Attends in-service and education programs and obtains continuing education required by state regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of residents’ information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintains professional appearance by adherence to community dress code.
  • Documentation is completed in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • All changes in a resident’s condition are reported as soon as possible to the supervisor.
  • Work schedules and assigned tasks are completed in accordance to the established policies and procedures of the community.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner and the only equipment utilized is that which previous training of use has occurred.
  • Infection Control precautions and practices are utilized with all activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire and emergency procedures. Reports all safety violations.
  • High School diploma
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of a State Approved Medication Aide course.
  • Personal Care Assistant or Certified Nursing Certification required.
  • Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families and staff members
  • Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for seniors without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others.
  • Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment.

Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed and dated order from an attending licensed physician. Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication/treatment. Verify that prescribed medication for one resident is not administered to another. Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied, as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason(s) for refusal. Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse, as directed. Verify that adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents. Report needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established procedures. Verify that narcotic records are accurate for your shift. Follow facility policies and procedures regarding the destruction of medications. Notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift. Review medication cards for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order and adherence to stop order policies . What you need: Current Medication Aide Certification or Current Nursing Assistant Certification from NC. Must have a current/active CPR certification. Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation. Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives. Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
