Greenwood Center for Nursing is seeking a dynamic Central Admissions Nurse to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will drive admissions, build strong referral relationships, and ensure seamless transitions for residents throughout the Scranton area.
Position Summary
The Central Admissions Nurse is responsible for reviewing referrals, obtaining insurance authorizations, coordinating admissions, and serving as a clinical resource for referral partners. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge of skilled nursing services and experience navigating the admissions process from referral through admission.
Qualifications
Current Pennsylvania LPN or RN license required
Minimum of two (2) years of skilled nursing experience required
At least two (2) years of experience with admissions, insurance authorizations, and clinical referral reviews in a skilled nursing facility
Experience as an Admissions Nurse, Clinical Liaison, Director of Marketing, or similar role preferred
Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and insurance authorization processes
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple referrals and priorities
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, case managers, physicians, social workers, and community referral sources throughout the Scranton market
Review referrals to determine clinical appropriateness for admission
Obtain and manage insurance authorizations for incoming admissions
Coordinate admissions with facility leadership to ensure smooth resident transitions
Collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Business Office, and Admissions teams
Educate referral partners on facility services and capabilities
Attend networking events and community outreach opportunities to strengthen referral relationships
Monitor referral activity and help develop strategies to increase admissions and census growth
