We are satellite program of Stanford Medicine Children's Health (SMCH) and have additional surgeon support from SMCH for our most complex operations. At Sutter Medical Center, we currently have two Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons and one Physician Assistant that work with a team of PICU intensivists, Pediatric cardiologists, and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologists to take care of both complex cardiac patients, such as babies with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and less complex patients, such as patients with atrial or ventricular septal defects. We also work with our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program to care for adult patients when they need additional surgery. Duties include consults in conjugation with the surgeons, intraoperative first and second assist, post-operative surgical rounding, and post operative outpatient appointments. We also run a small chest wall program that requires bracing of children with pectus carinatum or surgical intervention for children with pectus excavatum.
