Within the Department of Clinical Cancer Prevention, the Per Diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse supports outpatient services focused on cancer prevention, early detection, survivorship, patient education, and clinical research initiatives that help improve patient outcomes across the continuum of care. UT MD Anderson is seeking a Per Diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in the Cancer Prevention Center and Undiagnosed Breast Clinic. The Per Diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse will promote and maintain patient health through clinical practice, education, research engagement, administrative responsibilities, and professional development. The Per Diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse collaborates closely with physicians, patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive outpatient care. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider, preferably in Oncology and primary care settings, along with experience performing clinical breast examinations, pap tests, and prostate exams. The preferred candidate will be a collaborative team member who communicates effectively, embraces feedback, and actively pursues professional growth and development. KEY RESPOJSIBILITIES Patient Care Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development and other identified needs. Assesses health status by performing the medical history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment. Provides health care throughout the disease process: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative and terminal care. Must be able to visually read and write findings and to verbally communicate with patients and patient's family. Prevents, minimizes and manages symptoms/toxicities/health abnormalities related to disease or treatment in collaboration with physician and other allied personnel. Research Contributes to research efforts of department/section by identifying clinical problems amenable to research methods and collaborating in research projects. Applies pertinent research to clinical practice. Service Schedules consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, future appointments for patients in coordination with the attending physician. Must be able to walk from one area of the hospital to another to pick up and distribute information. Monitors laboratory, clinical radiographic and procedural data for daily rounds. Must visually evaluate data and prepare written information. The Benign Hematology section provides outstanding care to patients with cancer who have diseases of the blood. In support of this, our goals are: To provide clinical support for patients with cancer who have non-malignant disorders of bleeding, thrombosis, platelets, red cells and white cells. We work collaboratively with primary providers to optimize clinical outcomes, including long-term outcomes To identify and explore areas of research - both basic and clinical - that provide avenues to improved standards-of-care for patients with cancer who are suffering from blood diseases. To educate patients, students, post-doctoral trainees, mid-level providers and physician colleagues about the impact and natural history of hematological disorders that emerge or complicate the course of a patient's cancer and its treatment The ideal candidate for this position will be a skilled Advanced Practice Provider with a strong foundation in oncology and a genuine passion for caring for patients with complex benign hematologic conditions. This role supports the Benign Hematology section, which delivers exceptional care to patients with cancer who develop non malignant disorders of the blood, including abnormalities of bleeding, thrombosis, platelets, red cells, and white cells. To succeed in this role, the candidate should bring at least two years of oncology experience, specifically in the diagnosis and management of patients in the outpatient setting. Experience caring for patients with cancer related or treatment related hematologic challenges is desirable. A strong clinical interest in the management of thrombosis is essential, with additional interest in other benign hematologic conditions such as iron deficiency anemia. This role will require 100% onsite presence during initial mandatory department training.
